Ruth Jones is a self-taught artist. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Ruth took to art as soon as she was able to hold a crayon. Throughout her childhood and into high school, Ruth developed an appreciation for her surroundings. She expressed her love of art through painting.
Bringing art to life through painting is nothing new for this talented Rutgers graduate who paints everything from gorgeous landscapes to her two rescue dogs, Indie and Kasey, and more. As an Art History major, Ruth studied the Great Masters of art and learned invaluable techniques before graduating and working at a New York City art publication where she received exposure to the New York art scene. Armed with a wealth of experience, Ruth set out in February 2008 to make a dream come true; she started her own business.
“When I first started, I was focused on creating custom pet portraits and fine art oil paintings,” remembers Ruth. “But I kept seeing these Scrabble pendants which were cool. I thought about creating something like that but I wanted it to be different, unique. I wanted to find a fun way to display art so I began painting miniature works of art on pendants and it took off.”
Ruth is now a professional artist full-time. She lives in Holly Springs, NC with her husband Matt, and two dogs, Indie and Kasey.
