Decorative finishes and faux painting have become increasingly popular due in large part to their versatility. Decorative finishes include surface renderings that range from a textured lime-wash Italian finish, to basic glazing, to a contemporary linear tone-on-tone striped technique. Faux painting is a subset of decorative finishes and has two facets. One facet is the reproduction of natural surfaces. Allover Art can reproduce numerous types of marble and wood on various surfaces including walls, floors, and tabletops.
The other facet of faux painting is trompe l'oeil, which means "to fool the eye." Examples of trompe l'oeil include painting faux molding instead of actually nailing the real molding in place, or creating a window in a small room where there isn't one, to open up the enclosed space. Decorative finishes and faux painting provide you with endless options!
